The LOOK of LOVE.
‘God is love’ (1 John 4:8,16) There are many attributes of God’s nature, but they are all expressions of His Love.
The Greek word used for love here is AGAPE. AGAPE is Father’s love expressed - it is pure, willful, sacrificial love that intentionally desires another’s highest good.
The apostle John brings clarity to the definition in 1 John 3:16: ‘This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us….’ Jesus is the LIVING EXPRESSION of AGAPE, and the cross is AGAPE demonstrated for all to see.
And John continues ‘….And (so) WE OUGHT TO lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.’ That is, we to ought to exemplify THIS type of Love.
Q. How then can I intentionally BE a LIVING EXPRESSION of AGAPE THIS WEEK for the highest good of my family, friends and neighbours?
